Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Aspen Institute is a forum for nonpartisan leaders that aims to address some of the most complicated challenges the world is facing. Its programs include the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a world alliance of organizations that promotes entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Members of ANDE offer crucial educational, financial, and business assistance for small and growing businesses (SGBs), believing that SGBs can create the necessary employment to raise families, and entire countries, out of poverty.
From an initial membership of 34 in 2009, ANDE is now made up of over 260 members working collectively in more than 150 countries. Among its members are for-profit and nonprofit investment funds, development finance institutions, corporations, and foundations from across the globe. ANDE develops innovative programs to tackle structural obstacles and help foster entrepreneurial growth.
